The latest example is Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos. Vlachodimos left Panathinaikos to join Benfica in 2018, and since then, he has made 225 appearances for the Portuguese powerhouse. The team’s run for the Portuguese league championship the year before he played 34 games.
Because of his talent, Vlachodimos has long drawn interest from many European teams, including Arsenal. Rumors even surfaced suggesting Manchester United planned to start the Greek international in place of David de Gea. However, Vlachodimos is still a member of Benfica, and no official measures have been implemented. But come summer, there’s a significant chance this star will disappear.
