Manchester United has added some excellent players this summer. The Red Devils have signed talented players like Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund thus far. That is still insufficient, though, since Erik ten Hag intends to contend for the championship this year.

Erik ten Hag is currently searching the wooden frame for further backup possibilities because Crystal Palace is still interested in Dean Henderson. The English goalie was also rumored to be quite close to Nottingham before that. As a result, the Red Devils are today connected to several prestigious brands.

Odysseas Vlachodimos of Benfica is the most recent example. Since joining Benfica in 2018, Vlachodimos has made 225 appearances for the Portuguese powerhouse after leaving Panathinaikos. He contributed 34 games to the team’s championship run in the Portuguese league the previous year.

Vlachodimos has long attracted the interest of numerous European clubs, including Arsenal, due to his brilliance. There were even rumors that Manchester United intended to replace David de Gea with the Greek international. Vlachodimos is still a Benfica player, though, and no formal action has been taken. Still, there’s a good chance this star will go come summer.

Vlachodimos might find his ideal home at Old Trafford. Ten Hag, who sold Nathan Bishop to Sunderland and Matej Kovar to Bayer Leverkusen, is currently looking for a backup goalkeeper to replace Andre Onana. Tom Heaton and Henderson were still sidelined by injuries during United’s 0-2 loss to Tottenham on Saturday, with Radek Vitek starting on the bench.
