Man United looking for someone to challenge Onana’s position

This summer’s recruitment drive by Manchester United has encountered unanticipated obstacles. The team of Erik ten Hag is always looking for fresh faces who can contribute on the field. But because of the intense rivalry, many talented individuals chose to join other teams.

No confirmed names have surfaced as of yet. Prior to the transfer window closing, United is making persistent efforts to add new players. Some United supporters have stated that the Red Devils need to sign a midfielder. There is a sense of irritation among the supporters due to the frequent errors that occur there. Additionally, the squad is experiencing a goal crisis, and the lone centre-forward option is only used in the final 10 minutes of every game.

Erik ten Hag wants to allow players like Donny Van de Beek, Eric Bailly, Dean Henderson, and Harry Maguire, among others, an easier path out in terms of player departures. This summer, the Red Devils spent almost $190 million on players including Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, and Andre Onana.

However, the new recruits’ performances haven’t exactly been stellar. With the exception of Onana, the goalie, who was the finest United player in the London defeat to Tottenham. It appears that the newcomers are still figuring out their own cadence. The goalkeeper from Cameroon is aiming to get into the starting eleven. But according to rumors from Italy, the Glazer-owned team is looking for a new goalie.

Who could contend with Onana for the goalkeeping job, then?

Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, who now plays for Benfica, is the most likely contender to join Manchester United and contend for a spot between the Old Trafford goalposts, according to Fabrizio Romano. In addition, Vlachodimos might join the Red Devils, especially if Dean Henderson’s transfer to Crystal Palace is completed. While the transfer window is still open, discussions carry on and the result is still up in the air.
