Anthony Edwards scored a game-high 34 points

The United States of America defeated Germany in their final exhibition game before the FIBA World Cup, and Anthony Edwards scored a game-high 34 points.

United States of America basketball trounced Germany 99-91 on Sunday in its final tune-up game before flying to the Philippines for the World Cup. Anthony Edwards scored 34 points, Austin Reaves added 16, and Tyrese Haliburton scored 16 off the bench.

The Americans went on an 18-0 run in the last minutes to secure a perfect 5-0 exhibition record.

U.S. head coach Steve Kerr remarked, “What I like is that we know now that they’ve got guts.” (Germany) has been together for a long time, so its players have a higher ceiling than those of many other teams. The quality is superb. We believe there is additional development potential. And we have to keep training and improving right up until we land in Manila.

Edwards was sensational, converting on 11 of 21 attempts and 8 of 8 free throws. The other U.S. starters combined for 25 points. The Timberwolves’ all-star player had nine more points than that.

“That was the best game I’ve had in a minute,” Edwards remarked.

‘He’s definitely the guy,’ Kerr chimed in. It’s not news to him. The team as a whole is aware of it now.

LeBron James, great player for the Los Angeles Lakers, took notice of Edwards and tweeted, “Ant man cooking!! That teen.

The most obvious fact is that Edwards had help. When Haliburton scored 11 points in less than three minutes with two minutes left in the third quarter, the United States came back from a 16-point deficit to tie the game.

Germany persisted. With 6:58 to go, Germany extended their lead to 86-77 on a 3-pointer by Moritz Wagner.

After grabbing the lead on a 3-pointer by Mikal Bridges with 2:15 remaining, the Germans went cold from the field, missing their next eight attempts.

Simply putting your head down and making some hard choices is all that is required, Haliburton said.

For Germany, 16 points and 10 assists came from Dennis Schroder, and 14 points came from Moritz Wagner in addition to 17 points from Franz Wagner.

For the first time this summer, a team led the United States by more than four points, but ultimately fell short.

The U.S. team has had very little issue clicking so far despite having only been together for 2 and a half weeks.

Before heading to Spain for wins over Slovenia (92-62) and Spain (98-88), they opened the exhibition season with a 117-74 victory against Puerto Rico in Las Vegas.

They finished off their preparations in Spain before flying to Abu Dhabi, where they first defeated Greece (108-86) on Friday and then the Germans.

The Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia will host the World Cup, the next major event. Group play begins on Saturday in Manila, and the United States will face New Zealand, Greece, and Jordan as the big betting favorite.

Reaves argued that the team “rarely” felt hopeless during contests.
