Lionel Messi scores for Inter Miami vs. Nashville SC in Leagues Cup Final
No matter the opponent, Lionel Messi scoring goals in the Leagues Cup has been inevitable.
That continued against Nashville SC in the Leagues Cup Final on Saturday at GEODIS Park with a 23rd-minute strike.
Messi received the ball off of a deflection outside of the box, dribbled around Walker Zimmerman and took a curling shot that tucked into the top left corner past a diving Elliot Panicco.
It was a vintage Messi goal. Take a look, via MLS:
The goal is Messi’s 10th goal in seven Leagues Cup matches. Messi joined Inter Miami on July 15 ahead of the competition and was joined by former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
Nashville SC and Inter Miami are battling for the first trophy in either club’s top-flight history. Both have already clinched spots in next season’s CONCACAF Champions Cup by virtue of a top-3 finish in this competition.
