Jeremy Doku, a target for Manchester City, has “unbelievable potential,” but writer Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT why he’s astonished the young winger is being taken into consideration.
It comes as no surprise that City is looking for a new wide player given that Riyad Mahrez has moved on to greener pastures.
Early in the transfer season, Mahrez moved to Saudi Arabia, and Pep Guardiola may be forced to make a decision this summer due to a lack of natural choices in this position.
There is a case to be made that Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva are not at their most comfortable when playing on the right side of the attack.
According to recent claims made by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City will make a strong bid to capture Rennes forward Doku this summer.
According to reports, the talented Belgian player is the leading candidate for the right flank position and is eager to play at the Etihad Stadium.
According to Transfermarkt, the 21-year-old has already played 91 times for the French team while making 12 goals and 10 assists during his time at Rennes.
Doku has shown promise while playing for Rennes, but he is far from a finished product, so it would be surprising if he were to join City and immediately start every match.
Journalist Jones has now expressed his opinion on Doku’s probable signing by Man City and explained why it somewhat surprised him.
What has Dean Jones said on Doku and Man City?
Jones has said that although though Doku has a lot of promise and talent, it’s surprising to see Man City taking an interest in him at such a young age.
The writer continues by saying that being reasonably priced can add a little intrigue to the purchase.
“Yeah, I guess similarly to Lucas Paqueta, I’m surprised that Man City is considering this as a top option at this early stage of his career,” he stated in a statement to GIVEMESPORT. Doku is incredibly talented and capable, but I probably didn’t see him make this move so fast.
“Watching him play always makes me enthusiastic, though. He is available for a very affordable price and has some extremely unusual abilities, which could make the transaction even more alluring.
Guardiola and his hiring team appear to have Doku as their primary priority, but Italian writer Rudy Galetti disclosed their shortlist of four candidates for Mahrez’s replacement in an interview with GIVEMESPORT.
Doku has been identified by Galetti as City’s current top target, along with Michael Olise, Nico Williams, Raphinha, and Doku. Doku has also been identified as their first option.
Paqueta, a midfielder for West Ham United, may be headed to Manchester City, as Jones hinted, according to writer Ben Jacobs, who told GIVEMESPORT that the Brazilian midfielder is willing to try to force a transfer.
For Man City supporters, the end of the transfer window may be exhilarating.
