Ronaldo left a gesture with his teammates when he broke the scoring circuit on the day Al-Nassr received the second defeat in a row

Al-Nassr have made the worst possible start to the Saudi Pro League season after losing their second consecutive match, and Cristiano Ronaldo did not appear pleased about it.

Cristiano Ronaldo resembled a conductor as he waved his arms frantically at his teammates and Al-Nassr’s supporters during Friday’s Saudi Pro League loss to Al-Taawoun.

After Al-Nassr fell behind in the 20th minute, the Portugal superstar desperately attempted to inspire his teammates, particularly after last week’s opening day loss to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq side.

As his dejected teammates trudged back to the center circle, Ronaldo picked up the ball and jogged back to the half-way line, urging his teammates to join him. A few minutes later, he was spotted attempting to invigorate the crowd by urging them to make more noise.

The 38-year-old was dubbed a “true leader” by social media users, with some alleging Al-Nassr’s stars of holding Ronaldo back.

“Cristiano Ronaldo inspires his team after conceding a goal. A genuine leader, tweeted one user.

“Ronaldo is doing everything he can to make this awful Al-Nassr team sing. They’re going to deny him a league championship despite the fact that they’d be nothing without him,” another fan raged.

Others argued that Ronaldo’s frenzied gestures were indicative of his desperation, given that he narrowly missed out on the Saudi Pro League championship last season.

“Ronaldo appears anxious. One person wrote, “Dude needs to stop taking Saudi so seriously,” while another added, “Ronaldo so desperate not to lose haha you love to see it.”

Al-Taawoun added a second goal in stoppage time to secure a 2-0 victory late in the second half, dropping Al-Nassr to 15th place in the Saudi Pro League, with only goal differential separating them from the relegation zone.

Since joining Al-Nassr in December of last year, Ronaldo has scored 20 goals in 25 games. Last week, he helped propel the club to Arab Club Champions Club triumph by scoring two goals in the final against Al-Hilal.
