Knicks vs. Suns NBA Finals take from ESPN insider draws hilarious reactions
On Thursday, ESPN NBA expert Bobby Marks made the startling claim that next June’s NBA Finals would feature the Phoenix Suns taking on the New York Knicks.
While it’s not out of the question that the Suns, who made it to the Finals as recently as 2021, could make it back there this season, NBA fans have strong feelings about the possibility of the Knicks making it all the way to the promised land after making their deepest playoff run in 23 years last year. Many were taken aback by the idea, and some humorous memes were created to express their disbelief.Despite this, many Orange and Blue faithful seemed willing to convince themselves that the 2024 Knicks might legitimately represent the Eastern Conference. To suggest that the Knicks’ chances of reaching the Finals are slim is to put it mildly. While the addition of point guard Jalen Brunson helped the NBA’s best team immensely last year, they still have some obvious weaknesses, the most glaring of which is All-Star power forward Julius Randle’s established reputation as a playoff choker.
As if his poor performance against the Atlanta Hawks in the 2021 playoffs wasn’t bad enough, Randle had another one in 2023 against the Miami Heat. The former Kentucky Wildcat did sustain an ankle ιnjury toward the conclusion of the season, which may have impacted his performance.
Yet, for the Knicks to have any shot of making Marks’ bold prediction a reality, Randle will need to transcend his postseason demons and a whole lot of other things will need to go right.
