The largest boat in the world has been unveiled, and because of her size, the term “yacht liner” has been created.
Launching in 2024, “Somnio” will have a length of 222 meters (728 feet), making it visible from the outside. However, only a select few will have the opportunity to see the boat’s interior, which costs 500 million euros ($600 million/£430 million). For the super-rich, she will act as a jaw-dropping floating condo, offering 39 ultra-luxurious units with starting prices of 9.5 million euros (£8.1 million/$ 11.2 million).
The opportunity to purchase one of the apartments will only be available via invitation or recommendation, and the identity of the owners will remain a closely guarded secret.
On a boat designed by two of the world’s top architectural and design teams, London-based Winch Design and Sweden’s Tillberg Design, the selected 39 will have an ocean-going experience unlike any other.
Six decks will house the units, each of which can be completely customized. Potential amenities include a personal kitchen, a gym, a library, indoor and outdoor dining places, and separate dressing quarters.
Also outstanding will be the shared facilities.
Owners will have access to a “spectacular” 10,000-bottle wine cellar and tasting facility, as well as a number of dining options, bars, and a beach club with water sports equipment.
Meanwhile, a lounge at the ship’s bow will offer “spectacular views” when passing through beautiful regions or when entering a port.
Additionally, complete concierge services will be offered for both aboard and off-board requirements.
‘Somnio is the world’s first ‘yacht liner,’ intended to deliver all the benefits of superyacht ownership and finished to the greatest standards, with onboard amenities complementing the service and quality only found in the world’s finest hotels,’ according to a statement for the vessel’s debut.
Additionally, there will be high criteria for onboard safety.
World-class medical care will also be accessible on board, giving apartment owners the highest level of protection away from pandemics and other worldwide threats, the statement reads.
After everyone has boarded, Somnio will set sail for the four corners of the world while completing eco-missions with a focus on “slow-paced travel.”
Internationally renowned specialists will join Somnio’s itinerary to update owners on the most recent global difficulties and solutions on important environmental and charitable topics. Advanced onboard technology will assist scientists and marine professionals in conducting studies into ocean environments.
Captain Erik Bredhe, a co-founder of Somnio and the former master of the M/V The World, the only residential ship at sea as of this point, is in charge of the ground-breaking project.
Captain Bredhe declared, “The World has been a phenomenal success, but it is time for true superyacht co-ownership.” “Somnio” has been built to rigorous standards appropriate for a life of opportunity, making it the only residential superyacht in the world. With a hand-picked crew and an endless worldwide schedule of carefully chosen locations and activities befitting a yacht of this size, owners will have a genuinely unique lifestyle at sea.
The world’s largest yacht, both in terms of length and capacity, Somnio will be propelled by the most cutting-edge clean engine technology. She is currently being constructed in Norway by Vard, a division of Fincantieri, an Italian shipbuilding company.
