Travis Jankowski, the seasoned outfielder of the Rangers, recently returned to the team after taking parental leave to be by his wife Lindsey’s side during the birth of their fourth child. Despite having to travel across the country to reach their family’s home in Pennsylvania, Jankowski was fortunate that the birth happened on a day when the Rangers had time off.
Jankowski’s daughter, Wrenlyn, was born at 5 p.m. Thursday after his wife, Lindsey, was induced at 10 a.m. that morning. Both mother and daughter are reported to be in good health. When asked about the challenges of playing professional baseball while raising young children, Jankowski expressed gratitude for his support system at home.
“My wife, she’s a trooper, she’s a champ. I don’t know how she does it. God bless her I wouldn’t be able to do it,” Jankowski said. “She’s raising now four kids, pretty much solo while I’m on the road.”
Jankowski emphasized his efforts to stay connected with his family, seeing them every two weeks when they visit him. Despite these visits, he acknowledged the difficulties of balancing a young family with his demanding career.
Although he wasn’t part of the Rangers’ lineup on Monday against the Angels, Jankowski is available off the bench, as confirmed by Rangers manager Bruce Bochy.
Jankowski’s contributions to the team this season include a .292 batting average, one home run, 25 RBIs in 192 at-bats, and a team-leading 16 stolen bases.
