Shohei Ohtani won’t make next start, but there’s no need for Angels fans to panic

Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani will not be able to make his next scheduled start, but he is otherwise healthy and ready to put the finishing touches on a record-breаking season.

SoCal News Group’s Jeff Fletcher reports that Ohtani will sit out the Angels’ upcoming game against the Texas Rangers this week in order to rest up for his scheduled start against the Cincinnati Reds the week after the Angels return from their road trip. His manager, Phil Nevin, has stated that he is not out due to ιnjury but rather weariness.

There’s reason for concern for Angels supporters, as time is running out for the team in the AL wildcard race. With just over a month and a half to go, Los Angeles is presently 6.5 games behind the final position and rapidly falling out of contention.

Angels supporters last week suggested that Drake was to blame for Ohtani’s recent downturn. After one of his shows, fans spotted Drake wearing Ohtani’s All-Star game shirt, and the star promptly went 2-for-12 with seven strikeouts.

Even after the supposed curse was lifted, the Angels went on a losing streak of seven games. Even without Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon, two of their best hitters, they have won just two of their last ten games.

They aren’t out of the woods just yet, but their big losing streak after going for broke at the trade deadline didn’t help their cause. The Ohtani group was exceptional. They had hoped that by adding new players they might get to.500 and cruise towards a playoff run, but now they’re struggling in their final stretch.
