Texas Rangers Secure Four Prospects Among MLB’s Elite 100 Rankings

According to MLB.com, the Texas Rangers have four prospects ranked in the Top 100 after the site re-evaluated its rankings following the first four months of the season, the 2023 MLB Draft, and the MLB trade deadline.

Out of the four prospects, one is at the Double-A level, one is at High Class-A, one is at Class-A, and the last one is playing in the rookie league.

The Rangers lost one of their Top 100 prospects when infielder Luisangel Acuña was traded to the New York Mets for pitcher Max Scherzer. Acuña is now the No. 40 overall prospect.

The Rangers’ highest-ranked prospect is still outfielder Evan Carter, who is currently playing at Double-A Frisco. Carter has moved up to No. 8 and is expected to be called up in 2024.

Carter, who the Rangers picked in the second round in 2020, has made his way up the organization with impressive skill. He boasts some of the finest tools in the entire organization and currently has a batting average of nearly .280 with the RoughRiders.

Outfielder Wyatt Langford, drafted by the Rangers in July, debuted at an impressive No. 13 in the Top 100 rankings. The former of Florida currently plays for the High Class-A Hickory team and is performing exceptionally well with the Crawdads. MLB.com projects Langford to be called up in 2025.

In an astonishing ascent up the rankings, shortstop Sebastian Walcott captures attention at No. 67. Notably, this rise follows his entrance near the No. 100 mark the previous month. A true gem within the Rangers’ international signing class, Walcott, at the tender age of 17, dominates the field with the Arizona Complex Rookie League team.

Completing the ensemble of remarkable talents is pitcher Brock Porter, who secures the No. 98 spot. Flourishing in his debut professional season at Class-A Down East, Porter’s prowess resonates with his status as the former Michigan Gatorade High School Player of the Year. As the clock ticks towards 2025, the anticipation builds for his much-anticipated call-up.
