Luis Enrique, the boss of Paris St. Germain, hopes that the club and forward Kylian Mbappe can come to an agreement about his contract.
The future of the France captain is unclear because he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and there were reports earlier this week that he has been kept from training with the first team.
If PSG doesn’t sell Mbappe this summer, they could lose him for free next year, but when Enrique was asked about Mbappe’s future, he said the club is “bigger” than anyone else.
“It’s already happened before, and there was a good answer before I got here,” the PSG boss said at a news conference.
“I hope and dream that the same thing will happen again, just like it did before, and that the club and the player will come to an agreement.
“That’s exactly what I want. The club’s attitude is clear: the club is more important than any player or coach, and I agree with that.
Repоrts say that Marcо Verratti and Neymar may alsо want tо leave the Parc des Princes, sо Mbappe is nоt the оnly player whо has been linked with a mоve.
Reports from France from earlier in the week said that Brazil forward Neymar has said he wants to leave the club, but Enrique hasn’t said anything about their prospects.
“Conversations with the players you mentioned, like Marco Verratti and Neymar, are private,” he said.
“I won’t talk about what they said or what I said, because I don’t think that’s proper and I’d rather keep that to myself.
“оf cоurse, what I say is impоrtant, but what I dо is mоre impоrtant, and what I dо will shоw what I think.”
Throughout the transfer window, PSG has been linked to Ousmane Dembele, and Enrique hinted that a deal for the Barcelona forward is close.
He said, “Ousmane Dembele is not a PSG player right now. I’m not sure what’s going on, but he is not a PSG player yet.”
“He’s almost 100%, but not 100%, so he won’t be in the squad tomorrow.”
оn Saturday, PSG will start defending their Ligue 1 title at hоme against Lоrient, whо beat them 3-1 in the league in April.
This will be Enrique’s first game as coach since he took over for Christophe Galtier at the beginning of July. He is excited to get started with the club.
Enrique said, “I’m very excited to play our first home game. I hope we win and that the crowd is good so we can all have a good time.”
“Since I got here, I’ve been given the best treatment possible. Now I’m trying to put together a team, and I’m motivated to do so.”
