On Wednesday, the MLB player threw a no-hitter, and a video of his wife, Cassi Lorenzen, cheering him on went viral online.
Lorenzen defeated the Washington Nationals 7-0, pitching the 14th no-hitter in Phillies history.
Emotions ran high as the final out was recorded and his teammates rushed the field to celebrate with him.
Lorenzen’s mother Cheryl and his wife Cassi appeared nervous during the final pitch.
One more sales spiel. In the videotaped moment, it appeared that both said, “One more pitch.”
In the spectators, Lorenzen’s loved ones started cheering after he got the batter to pop up.
Cassi and Cheryl cried tears of pleasure at the sight of his newborn daughter, June.
The Phillies’ pitcher reflected on the momentous moment in his postgame press conference:
To paraphrase, “I can’t believe it… It was incredible.” Says Lorenzen.
“These fans, when I leave for the seventh, eighth, and ninth times. I’ve never worked at a company where the patrons are treated as equals.
And they gave me the confidence I was lacking.
Since 2016, Michael and Cassi have been happily married.
Cassi studied nursing at San Diego State University. She was a star player on the High School volleyball team.
The Cincinnati Reds selected Lorenzen in the first round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.
He has spent nine seasons in Major League Baseball, with four different clubs.
Earlier this month, just before the MLB trade deadline, the Philadelphia Phillies acquired Lorenzen from the Detroit Tigers.
