At the Angels’ dugout, Shohei Ohtani demonstrates traditional Japanese courtesy

The Angels’ Shohei Ohtani has had a phenomenal season so far, both on the field and with a devastating bat that once tore up the ceiling of the Tokyo Dome. However, he recently gained recognition for something else: he cleaned up his team’s dugout after a game against the Seattle Mariners.

The TV cameras caught him at just the right moment as he was about to begin collecting the plastic and paper cups used by his teammates, a gesture that has become increasingly common at international events involving Japanese athletes because it is part of their culture to keep things neat and orderly.

The pitcher has done this before and explained his reasoning for doing so, saying, “If you consider the garbage that people throw away as luck, you can get good fortune by picking it up,” a lesson he learned from his coach while attending university in Japan.

Less than a week after the deadline, the Los Angeles Angels’ plan to keep their superstar Shohei Ohtani and become the leading bidder and finally the buyer of his contract has gone as terribly as imaginable.

The Angels are now seven games out of a postseason berth after being swept by Seattle and losing six straight games. Since being acquired from the Chicago White Sox, Lucas Giolito has surrendered 12 runs in nine innings across his first two starts.

Angels star Shohei Ohtani adds to crаzy collection of insаne records with latest MLB feat vs Giants

In 2023, Shohei Ohtani will have a season that will go down in baseball lore. Being this good at both hitting and pitching is still one of the hallmarks of greatness, and that’s exactly what the Los Angeles Angels star is doing. Ohtani’s performance on Monday night provided further evidence that the Angels may have a shot to make the playoffs this season.

Ohtani contributed to the Angels’ 2-1 lead over the San Francisco Giants on Monday night. The Giants were the team the Angels defeated in the 2002 World Series. Ohtani stole second base after hitting a first-inning single off of Logan Webb, giving him 15 for the year.

In doing so, Shohei Ohtani joined Willie Mays as the only players in Major League Baseball history to Һit 40 home runs and steаl 15 bases in their first 120 games. Ken Griffey Jr., a future Hall of Famer, is the only other player in history to achieve this. Griffey accomplished this feat 25 years ago, during a season in which he finished with 56 home runs, which was tied for his career high.

The star of “Angels” keeps distinguishing himself from his contemporaries. Ohtani’s predicted great pitching was a major selling point for him as he entered the league. His arsenal was on par with baseball’s top strikeout artists. He has always had solid оffensive skills, but for him to rank third in the league in hitting WаR (according to Fangraphs) this season is very remarkable. That, in and of itself, is an amazing accomplishment. Ohtani’s recent success at the plate is another proof of his value to the team.

Unfortunately, the Angels have been struggling mightily in recent weeks. Ohtani will have his hands full trying to get the Angels back above.500 after they were swept in four games by the Seattle Mariners following a solid run before the trade deadline.
