Klay Thompson is confident that the Warriors made the correct decision by trading for Chris Paul this offseason, despite widespread skepticism.
The Warriоrs traded fоr Paul frоm the Washingtоn Wizards, giving up Jоrdan Pооle in the prоcess. Tо acquire the veteran playmaker, the Warriоrs had tо part with Patrick Baldwin Jr., Ryan Rоllins, a secоnd-rоund selectiоn in 2027, a prоtected first-rоund pick in 2030, and sоme cash.
Many have questioned whether or not CP3 will be a valuable addition to the Dubs, given that he is already 38 years old and has had injuries in the playoffs in the past. DeMarcus Cousins, a former big man for the Warriors, agreed with those who doubted the wisdom of the deal and said he “didn’t understand” it. Cousins said that he does not think Paul will help Golden State at this point in his career.
Thompson, though, disagrees with the storyline and has shown his new comrade his support despite the discussions. In addition, Thompson brought to everyone’s attention how CP3 made winning teams out of organizations like the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Phoenix Suns.
“We are fortunate. One of the best players in history, for sure. He is in the top 75. “He’s elevated every franchise he ran the point for,” Thompson stated on the Podcast P with Paul George Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment.
And as a marksman, I couldn’t be more pumped. This is exactly where CP will apply it (on his hands), along the seams. What he has planned for me is a lovely arrangement. Every night, I plan on getting a few additional easy buckets. Moreover, he has a winning record. So many times have I played against him that I can attest to his fierce competitiveness. His only goal is to succeed. That’s the spirit we’re going for.
With Chris Paul now on the Warriors, Klay Thompson has every right to feel upbeat. We shouldn’t forget that CP3 is one of the brightest players in the NBA, even though his style of play is different from the Dubs’.
It would be premature to write him off because he is adjusting to life with the Dubs. Paul is one of the few people who might be able to give the Warriors a new spark and make them better.
