Mets ‘trade Mark Canha to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-hander Justin Jarvis’

According to sources, the New York Mets have agreed to trade Mark Canha to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Mets are expected to receive right-handed pitcher Justin Jarvis from the Milwaukee Brewers.

Canha, a veteran of 303 plate appearances, is batting.245/.343/.381 with six homers and seven steals.

Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold said, “He’s a guy that we’re excited to have.”He’s someone who’s been contributing to the major leagues for quite some time. He retains his multifaceted abilities to this day. We think he can help us down the line because of his offҽnsive track record and versatility (he can play outfield, first base, DH, etc.).

According to Eppler, the decision to swap Scherzer and Robertson was deliberate. We seized the moment to further the group’s mission of improving the agricultural sector. But I do want to make it clear that we are not engaged in a reconstruction, a fire sale, or a liquidation.

The Mets are investing in the future by strengthening their farm system, while the Brewers are looking to rebuild after missing the playoffs for the first time since 2010 with this deal.

The Milwaukee Brewers dropped to 1.5 games behind the first-place Cincinnati Reds in the National League Central after being swept by the Atlanta Braves over the weekend. The smart and adaptable Canha has appeared in 89 games this year, with a.245 batting average with a.343 on-base percentage, six home runs, 29 RBIs, and seven steals. His $26.5 million two-year deal includes a $11.5 million team option for 2024 with a $2 million buyout, and this is the second year of the deal.

Canha, 34, has played right field, first base, designated hitter, and third base this season despite seeing less action in left field due to Tommy Pham’s emergence. Canha will likely start in right field for Milwaukee, but Arnold said he can also play the other two outfield spots and first base.

The 23-year-old right-hander Jarvis has started 17 games this year between Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville, posting a 6-6 record with a 4.33 ERA. In 87 and a third innings, he has 102 strikeouts and 38 walks.

“Justin is a really talented young pitcher with real upside,” Arnold remarked. We thought his arm was strong, and we appreciated what he had accomplished this year. He had succeeded admirably. It was difficult to let him go, but we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Canha join us.
