On Thursday, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers worked out rookie AJ Dybantsa. Bronny James, who had a heart attαck on Monday, was released from the hospital earlier today.
LeBron James made his first public statement about Bronny on Thursday morning.
I appreciate everyone who is praying for my family and thinking of us. And for that, we are eternally grateful. How are we all doing? We’re all here, healthy and happy, and we know your love is with us. We will have more to say when the time is right, but for now, please know how much we appreciate all of your encouragement.
While Bronny was in the hospital, LeBron reportedly canceled his scheduled Wednesday workout with Dybantsa, a rising star and prospective Klutch client. LeBron’s presence during the practice gave cause for hope regarding Bronny’s health.
“Didn’t know what was going to happen to his son, but even though it took him an extra day, he still showed up and worked out,” AJ added. This is also the first time we’ve seen LeBron play basketball since May 16, when the Lakers’ season ended and he reportedly considered retiring at age 38. Despite Bronny’s illness, the four-time MVP has announced his plans to participate in his 21st NBA season.
LeBron intimated that he might need surgery on a torn tendon in his right foot during the offseason, but he played through the pαin for the final two months of the season. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka was upbeat after Summer League about LeBron and Anthony Davis’s right foot injuries.
