After a crushing tackle on Jude Bellingham, Lisandro Martinez has triggered yet another fight.
The Argentine received a yellow card after a vicious two-footed attack knocked Real Madrid’s newest signing to the ground.
The Madrid players were not amused by the challenge, and they rushed to the rescue of their new teammate.
Following the challenge, there was some pushing and shoving, and the World Cup winner received a booking from the referee.
The midfielder rose up quickly after the challenge, and the referee did well to calm things down.
Similar scenes occurred over the weekend between Manchester United and Arsenal after Martinez delivered a crunching tackle on Bukayo Saka.
The Argentine defender is known for being combative and enjoying physical contact, and he delivered as he ran straight through Saka.
Martinez won the first ball and flew into the tackle, knocking Saka out entirely. While sitting up, the England international delivered a minor shove, but his captain, Martin Odegaard, rushed in to confront Martinez, who was soon given a yellow card.
Tempers appeared to flare, but things were diffused just in time. Nonetheless, the tackle drew a lot of backlash online, with Martinez being chastised.
Fans reacted similarly to his tackle on Bellingham.
“Imo no need for this in a preseason friendly,” one fan said.
“Lisandro Martnez, you’re a filthy player,” wrote another.
A third person said, “Lisandro Martinez actually has the small man syndrome lol, man relax it’s just friendly.”
