Bronny James, LeBron James’ oldest son and USC commit, hospitalized after cardiac arrҽst
The son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, Southern California freshman Bronny James, was taken to the hospital following a cardiac attαck on Monday.
When an emҽrgҽncy call came in on Monday morning, James was at the Galen Center, the home of USC.
The younger James is no longer in the intensive care unit, according to the family, and is in stable condition.
“Bronny James experienced a heart arrҽst yesterday while working out. Bronny was able to receive medical attention and be transported to the hospital. He is no longer in the intensive care unit and is currently in stable health, according to a statement from the James family to USA TODAY Sports. “We want quiet and respect for the James family, and we will inform the media as more information becomes available. LeBron and Savannah would like to publicly express their gratitude to the USC athletic department’s medical personnel for their extraordinary efforts and commitment to the safety of their athletes.
After averaging 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists in his senior year at Sierra Canyon (Los Angeles) School the previous year, the 18-year-old four-star recruit committed to the Trojans in May. He shares many of his father’s selfless traits.
Tuesday, Damar Hamlin, whose on-field cardiac episode garnered national notice earlier this year, took to social media to show his support for Bronny James and to offer the James family his help. On May 6, Bronny James declared his commitment to USC. Following the Lakers’ victory against the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of their playoff series, LeBron James referred to it as one of the best days of his life and talked about it.
In a post-game press conference, James said, “First of all, congratulations to my son on his next journey and choosing a great university.” “I’m happy for him. This is amazing, I tell you. To my knowledge, this is the first member of the James Gang to attend college, unless it was one of my great-grandmothers or great-grandfathers or someone who lived far before my time. LeBron James, who will be starting his 21st NBA season, has previously expressed a desire to compete with his kid. That might be a possibility, depending on how long Bronny James plans to attend college and pursue his NBA dreams.
James declared, “I was serious, and I’m still serious about it. “Just because it’s my goal doesn’t mҽan that it belongs to him. You don’t want it, really. It involves paying attention to your children and what they want. Bronny recently appeared at the ESPYs with his mother, Savannah, younger brother, Bryce, and younger sister, Zhuri to honor LeBron James for brҽaking the NBA’s all-time scoring record.
LeBron James remarked, “I’m really proud of these two individuals standing right behind me tonight. They’re playing basketball for their own reasons, you see. They aren’t abusing this game, no matter how far they go, and that motivates me. Bronny James finished his season as the No. 20 player in ESPN’s Top 100 rankings for the class of 2023 and is a projected first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. LeBron James has often said that he wants to play in the NBA with his son.
James is a 6-3 combo guard, who can handle the ball and set teammates up for easy baskets. That’s part of the reason he is on many 2024 NBA mock drafts. If he is cleared to play this season, an improved jump shot would go a long way toward helping his lottery-pick chances.
James has already shown the defensive mindset to disrupt opposing players and the more he matures on the offҽnsive end will be a considered asset to any team, especially if he ends up falling on the draft board.
