James Harden snaps back at ESPN for making fun of him for carrying a STACK of hamburgers at a music festival: ‘Slow news week?’
James Harden, a veteran of the Philadelphia 76ers, made fun of himself in a SportsCenter Instagram post for toting a stack of hamburgers to the Rolling Loud music festival in Miami, Florida.
ESPN uploaded the video with the caption: “Who was Harden grabbing burgers for?” after it was first shared by Houston rapper Bun B as a promotion for his eatery “Trill Burgers.”
The post’s title, which included an arrow pointing to the hamburgers, stated, “Harden stocking up.” Harden asked the World Wide Leader a question in the comment section many hours after the video had been published: “Slow news week?”
The network has been giving the former Arizona State standout a lot of attention lately because he is rυmored to have asked to be traded to the Philadelphia 76ers after choosing to exercise his $35.6 million option for the remaining year of his deal.
Harden had been strongly associated with a move to the Los Angeles Clippers or a return to the Houston Rockets, where he had spent the most fruitful years of his career, after the trade request. Harden’s relationship with 76ers general manager Daryl Morey has reportedly “essentially fractured,” according to rυmors that have recently started to surface as the offseason has progressed and Harden has yet to be transferred. Morey recently spoke with The Athletic about a possible Harden deal.
James is an excellent athlete. He does, regrettably, currently prefer to be somewhere else. I have known him for a very long time. I’m trying to respect that. However, if we do examine a deal, it will likely be for one of two reasons. Either way, we’ll be right there, as we were against one of the top teams in the East, the Celtics, up 3-2, just like we were last year.
We obviously fell short, but James played a significant role in our ability to bring the score to 3-2. Alternatively, we’ll do it in exchange for a transaction that nets us enough draft picks and other valuable assets so that we can use those assets to acquire a player who can run alongside Joel.
“We’re just not going to do it if we don’t get either a very good player or something that we can turn into a very good player.”
“If James were to change his mind, we would all be ecstatic… However, at this time, he does like to be traded, so we’re trying to respect that. The future of NBA MVP and fellow 76er Joel Embiid appears to be in doubt as a result of the ambiguity surrounding Harden’s present and potential future.
Last week, during an interview with Maverick Carter, Embiid said, “I just want to win a championship.” ‘Whatever it takes,’ said the man, ‘I don’t know where that’s going be, whether it’s in Philly or anyplace else, I just want to have a chance to do that.’
“You can think about the next one after I see how it feels to win that first one.” Even if it’s difficult, more than one, two, or three guys are needed. You need to surround yourself with wonderful people, and I work hard every day to reach that level so I can make it happen. So, I strive to achieve that every day.
Along with expressing the hope that Harden’s “mindset can be changed,” Embiid acknowledged that he has been attempting to persuade the seven-time All-NBA guard to stay in Philadelphia.
