San Francisco Giants interested in signing Justin Verlander

Before the trade deadline, the San Francisco Giants are reportedly one of the organizations looking at trading for New York Mets pitcher Justin Verlander.

If the Mets decide to sell before the deadline, selling Verlander might be an option, but the future Hall of Fame pitcher would need to waive his no-trade clause in order for any deal to go through. Should Justin Verlander decide to waive his no-trade clause, the Giants are one among the teams assessing him as a trade deadline candidate, according to MLB source Jon Morosi.

The enormous sum of money Verlander is owing is one barrier to trade. He is now engaged in a $86.7 million, two-year deal with a vesting option for the 2025 campaign.

The Mets now appear uninterested in trading Verlander or his pricey co-ace, Max Scherzer.

However, in case the Mets change their mind and Verlander consents to waive his no-trade clause, other teams are keeping a watch on his status.

Recently, Verlander turned in one of his greatest outings of the year, going eight innings, giving up just one run on three hits and fanning seven batters.

Verlander has a 4-5 overall record, a 3.47 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts over 83 innings this season.
