Sorry For the Other Team

Chris Paul on Playing With Draymond Green on Warriors

After being acquired by Golden State in a series of summer trades, Chris Paul is getting ready for his first season with the Warriors.

The 38-year-old has experience playing for new teams, having done so for five different organizations throughout the course of his career. In a video clip published by the team, Paul expressed his thoughts on joining forces with longstanding competitors like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green as he prepares for yet another new chapter.

Paul acknowledged that he felt “sorry for the other teams” that would compete against the Warriors in the 2023–24 NBA season when speaking about his possible on-court synergy with Green.

Draymond is, indeed, uh… The other teams that have to compete against both of us make me feel bad. Because, like myself, he has always been pretty vocal. With men like them, I’ve always thrived,” remarked Paul. Green and Paul, two of the league’s most passionate players, have the potential to work together to make things difficult for Golden State’s rivals.

Paul stated of joining the Warriors, “I think you have to have some type of appreciation for them and the way that they play and the way that they share the ball and the selflessness of all the different guys on the team.”

Paul will team up with Golden State after competing against them in the Western Conference for the entirety of his 18-year career. Though he acknowledged that it would “take some getting used to,” he said the move was a pσsitive one.
