Antoine Griezmann, an Atlético Madrid player and well-known NBA basketball enthusiast, nailed his allegiance to one team in the NBA playoff finals to the mast.

 

The Frenchman has admitted on numerous occasions that Mexican attacker Carlos Vela inspired him to join the NBA while they were both located in San Sebastian and competing for Real Sociedad, a Basque team.

Griezmann wore the number 23 jersey of Warriors forward Draymond Green as the defending champions defeated the LA Lakers 127-100 on Thursday night to even the series (1-1). With Griezmann and the Warriors power forward being close friends, Draymond Green “returned the favor” by wearing the red and white Atletico home jersey with Griezmann’s name and number on the back when he arrived at the Chase Center.

Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors has explained why he chose to wear an Antoine Griezmann Atletico Madrid shirt during NBA Playoff action. The four-time champion power forward, 33, showed up for action against the LA Lakers on Thursday night wearing a different type of sports jersey from the one he usually wears. Griezmann, a World Cup champion for France, was certainly an inspiration for the Warriors, who won 127–100 to win the game and even the series with LeBron James and the Lakers at one game each.

Given that Griezmann, the Atletico forward, is a huge basketball enthusiast, Green explained to TalkBasket after the game why he wore a Griezmann shirt: Griez is fantastic. He has long been performing it at a high level. I had a few opportunities to interact with him. He is simply amazing. However, I’m also eagerly anticipating that game this summer. Fun will be had. Over the years, I have attended a couple of those. A pair is outside.

This summer, Atletico will play a preseason game in San Francisco, and Green noted the live soccer matches he had attended over the years: “I’ve been to one in LA. When the ICC International Champions Cup was held in Miami, I attended El Clasico. I’ll serve as the game’s honorary captain because I’m aware they’ll be visiting this summer. I was thus simply excited. I was excited to wear the jersey I had just acquired, and it brought us some luck.
