Only three days after rejoining PSG in a £5 million deal from PSV Eindhoven, Xavi Simons provides RB Leipzig a season-long loan.

Xavi Simons has signed a year-long loan with RB Leipzig, only three days after PSG re-signed him from PSV.

The signing of the offensive midfielder will help to compensate for the loss of firepower caused by the sales of Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Last season, he scored 22 goals in 48 games for PSV, forcing PSG to activate the £5 million buy-back clause they included in the deal to sell him to the Dutch club in June 2022.

Before joining PSG in 2019, Simons spent most of his youth career with Barcelona.

Since then, the 20-year-old has represented the Netherlands at the senior level and has won numerous prizes, including Ligue 1 and the KNVB Cup.

On Sunday, Mail Sport reported that PSG was considering loaning him out.

His achievements have piqued the curiosity of Premier League clubs, with Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Newcastle’s Eddie Howe both thought to be keeping tabs on Simons, but he will put his skills to the test in the Bundesliga.

He should get more playing time in a side of Leipzig’s caliber than in PSG, which presently has Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in their ranks – though that might change.

The kid made just 11 games in two seasons at PSG the last time he was there, and he will be hoping that another strong season elsewhere would earn him a starting spot in the French city.
