Recent Lakers And Hawks Player Signs With Team In France
In his four years of collegiate basketball, Chaundee Brown Jr. played three for Wake Forest and one for Michigan.
In 20 regular season games (he also played in 17 Showcase Cup games), he averaged 14.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 44.7% from the field and 28.6% from three-point range. He spent this past season in the G League with the Austin Spurs.
For the 2023–24 season, Brown Jr. will sign with SIG Strasbourg, a French team (h/t Alberto De Roa of HoopsHype).
The signing was confirmed by the group on Saturday. Brown Jr. participated in five NBA games for the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks during his rookie campaign.
He played 10.5 minutes a game in two games for the Lakers, averaging 1.0 points and 1.0 rebounds.
He played in 27.7 minutes per game while averaging 9.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 36.0% from the field and 40.0% from three-point range in his three games with the Hawks.
Despite the small sample size, Brown Jr. performed admirably for the Hawks, scoring 16 points, pulling down three rebounds, dishing out three assists, and shooting 3/6 from beyond the arc in a game that lasted 32 minutes. Given that Brown Jr. is only 24 years old, his performance over the upcoming seasons is likely to improve, and a return to the NBA is undoubtedly a possibility.
He might also be among SIG Strasbourg’s top players next season.
