Lionel Messi’s performance with Inter Miami in his Major League Soccer debut has Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James in awe of the Argentinean superstar.

Messi entered the game against Cruz Azul of Mexico in the second half of Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup debut on Friday. And he most certainly did not let us down, as Messi scored the game-winning goal for his new team late in stoppage time.

Additionally, it couldn’t have been any better. Messi has scored some incredible goals off of free kicks over the years, and fans saw him do it in his first match in Major League Soccer. LeBron’s level of elation is understandable, though. Messi’s MLS debut received a lot of attention, but there were also questions about whether he would be able to rapidly establish himself given that he only recently joined Inter Miami.

Messi ultimately demonstrated to everyone that their worries were completely unnecessary. As LeBron noted, Messi also demonstrated to everyone why he is the GOAT.
