The world’s leading sports magazine ESPN recently held a vote to choose the “World’s Best Striker of 2023”. Voting participants include journalists, reporters, editors and producers, including the organization’s behind-the-scenes staff.
ESPN Awards will be voted on on the basis of performances from a 1-year period. From start to finish the 2022/23 season, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which saw Messi end Argentina’s 36-year wait for the gold cup.
However, M10 is not the owner of this award. Accordingly, the superstar of PSG and France is Kylian Mbappe who was voted to become ESPN’s Best Striker in 2023.
The Frenchman has just had an incredible season with 54 goals in all competitions – including a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final, where he was top scorer.
Mbappe also won the Ligue 1 Top Scorer for the fifth time in a row, helping PSG win an 11th Ligue 1 title in its history. The striker is also a candidate for the 2023 Golden Ball title.
It is noteworthy that the top scorer of the Champions League, Erling Haaland, is not on the list of top 10 nominees. The reason is because he has topped another category that is “Best striker of the year”.
