The New York Mets have a puncher’s chance of making the playoffs despite their current three-game winning streak. They have been eliminated from divisional contention and would need to play near perfect baseball down the stretch to make the Wild Card. Is it possible for them to pull it off? Maybe. How likely is it? No way, no how.

The Mets’ bleak 2023 outlook makes it obvious that they need to sell. Unfortunately, the Mets don’t have much to sell besides a few key players. Fortunately, the New York team that can use these parts is the other one. The Yankees have lost nine of their previous eleven games and were just swept by the Angels. They’ve lost four in a row and are at 50-47 on the year.

The Yankees’ chances of making the AL Wild Card are dwindling. The Wild Card race is tight, but at this point they are 3.5 games out and things may get ᴜgly. Therefore, assistance is required. The Mets can be that team to address these obvious gaps.

Pham has exceeded expectations in his first year with the Mets. Although he had a rough start to the year in a part-time job, Pham had a great June and his success has continued over into July.

He is a slasher in general.She hit.274,.359,.479 with 9 HR and 35 RBI. He has stolen 11 bases in 12 attempts and hit 15 doubles. With the exception of Aaron Judge, no other Yankee with more than five games played had an OPS higher than.782. Even with his injᴜry, Jake Bauers is second on their squad in that category.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa is currently seeing almost daily action in left field for the Yankees. IKF has an OPS of.678. Pham is not a superstar, but he is a significant upgrade over their current options. He’s a versatile hitter who can get on base and contribute with big blows in the clutch. The Yankees have never been a strong team in left field. Pham is just too reasonable.

New York Yankees should try to trade for (no. 2) New York Mets player to rescue their season. Rober David Although the Yankees’ bullpen often ranks high among the league’s finest, they’ve been struggling as of late. Even though the Yankees will get talented relievers like Michael King and Ron Marinaccio back shortly, they have been struggling as of late.

Even after an incredible year, Clay Holmes faded badly at the end of 2017. The Yankees appeared to be short an arm at times. David Robertson has arrived.

The former Yankee, who won a World Series with the squad in 2009, looks as good as ever. In 38 games this year, he has a 2.13 ERA and 13 saves. Robertson is the type of guy who can help out wherever he is needed. He is effective against both right- and left-handed batters, can provide more than three outs if necessary, and has plenty of experience in the postseason thanks to his tenure with the Bronx Bombers.

While not nearly on par with Josh Hader, Robertson is still a very significant addition to their bullpen. At the deadline, the Yankees should be among the teams mentioned in connection with Robertson.

The New York Yankees should trade for Brooks Raley of the New York Mets in order to salvage their season. An excessive number of relievers is useless. I’m not recommending the Yankees make a trade for both Robertson and Brooks Raley, but Raley’s southpaw arm might be even more enticing.

Raley was a prized winter acquisition for the Mets, and he has more than delivered as the team’s top lefty reliever. Raley’s previous season in Tampa Bay was his best ever. Like former Rays reliever Aaron Loup, Raley has been just as good, if not better, since leaving the team.

He has made 41 appearances and has an ERA of 2.14. Aaron Boone would feel confident throwing him against any batter in any situation. This guy is really good. The nicest part about Raley is that he will remain in power for an extra year. The Yankees could use a lift, but he might not be available at the deadline if he decided to stay in school for another year.

The Yankees will be without Loaisiga for the rest of the season, along with Scott Effross and Lou Trivino. Given the frequency of their bullpen injuries, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to give them more options.

New York Yankees could salvage their season by trading for Mark Canha from the New York Mets. Mark Canha may not be a savior, but he certainly improves the Yankees’ baseball squad.

Canha’s starting role was taken over by Pham, but that was due more to Pham’s recent success than to anything Canha did wrong. He’s making a slashing motion.6 home runs, 28 RBI, and an.346/.396/.444 batting line. Due to Gleyber Torres’ current hot streak, his 111 WRC+ now ranks fourth among Yankees hitters with more than 20 PA this season. Only Judge, Jake Bauers, and Torres are ahead of him.

Canha’s fourth-place finish in WRC+ is a damning indication of how poor the Yankees’ offense is, but it also demonstrates that he can contribute to that offense. He can hit for power in New York and wouldn’t break the bank in a deal.

If the Yankees want to hit him wherever in the lineup, they won’t hurt him. If he bats seventh or eighth, he can try to drive in runs before their big hitters come up.

He’s showed some new skills that could help the Yankees compensate for their many injuries. He mostly plays left field, but he’s also started 12 games at first, 7 in right, and 4 at third. Neither IKF nor Oswaldo Cabrera are stars, but Canha is a big improvement over them.

To salvage their season, the New York Yankees should go after Omar Narvaez of the New York Mets. After signing a one-year contract with the Mets in the offseason, Omar Narvaez has not had the kind of year he had hoped for. When the season began, Francisco Alvarez was promoted ahead of schedule, but Narvaez had hoped to share the starting role with Tomas Nido. After hitting 19 home runs, Alvarez has secured the starting catcher’s position for the rest of the season and perhaps beyond in Queens.

Due to Alvarez’s meteoric rise, Narvaez now finds himself on the substitute’s bench. He’s only played in 18 games and hasn’t contributed much (slashing).Hit.175,.273,.175 with three runs batted in and no homers. As of yet, Narvaez’s Mets career has not produced an extra-base hit.

Given Alvarez’s relative youth and the Mets’ desperation for victories, Narvaez is effectively stuck on the bench. In the entire month of July, he has appeared in just two games. We’ve already passed the midpoint of the month.

The Yankees’ need for a new catcher makes them a potential suitor. Despite his stellar defensive abilities, Jose Trevino has a.569 OPS. You can’t afford to have absolutely no offensive production at any position unless the rest of your lineup is very strong. Having Nido and James McCann last season taught the Mets a valuable lesson.

Although Narvaez struggled with the bat in 2020, he made the all-star team with Milwaukee the next year thanks to vast strides he made in pitch framing. That’s exactly why the Mets pursued him. They wouldn’t suffer significant defensive losses while gaining a left-handed hitter who has hit as many as 22 home runs in a single season.

While it’s likely that Narvaez will exercise his player option for the 2024 season, the Mets have shown no reluctance to take a financial hit in order to improve their return on investment. The Yankees will likely try to get a stronger catcher, but if they are unable, Narvaez will become a very tempting option.
