After her husband, Yankees star pitcher Carlos Rodon, caused controversy by blσwing a kiss after New York’s 7-3 loss, Rodon’s wife reportedly sent a message to Yankees fans.
After her star pitcher husband blew a sarcastic and contentious kiss to supporters in a 7-3 loss to the Angels, Carlos Rodon’s wife Ashley responded to “pιssed” Yankees fans on social media.
Ashley, who married New York’s No. 55 in 2018, spoke up in defense of him when he flashed the peace sign as he left the field at Angel Stadium on Wednesday. The Yankees (50-47) were trailing the Dodgers (49-48) at the time of his departure.
Ashley tweeted the day following Rodon’s blσw kiss, “The days he’s he’ll own it and get ready for the next one.” Constantly has. For supporters, it’s currently a tough ride on the bus. People just really like the team, I get it. That’s fine with me. Even if they act like jerks when they find out the outcome. I realize what you mean.
A supporter had proposed that Ashley make her Twitter account private or remove it forever, prompting Ashley to respond. Following a poor performance in which he gave up six earned runs on four hits, five walks, and two home runs throughout the better part of four innings, a photo of Rodon kissing his girlfriend went viral on social media.
When the pitcher left the mound after the second inning, he made a questionable gesture. When the Yankees were behind by six goals, he was taken out of the game permanently. ‘I guess it was the best reaction I could give but better not to give a reaction I guess,’ Rodon remarked after Wednesday’s game. It was just one of those times when I decided it was best to blσw a kiss in frustration rather than do nothing at all.
That was one frustrating trip, that much is certain. And I demonstrated that in that very same early second. The Yankees have lost nine of their previous 11 games, and their manager, Aaron Boone, who has been ejected more than any other AL manager this season (five times), said he wasn’t a fan of the kiss.
As Boone put it, “I would like him not to do that.” We discussed this and I know that this is not the response you were hoping for. You may find yourself doing things you’d rather not while you’re actually “in the arena” and “going through it.”
After an injury-plagued beginning to the season, Rodon has struggled in his first three starts with the Yankees, going winless with a 7.36 ERA.
The left-handed pitcher re-signed with the San Francisco Giants this offseason for a six-year, $162 million deal.
After falling to the Angels in their most recent game, the Yankees are now in last place in the American League East and will host the AL Central’s worst team, the Kansas City Royals, on Friday.
